ABBOTTABAD: Tehreek-e-Soba Hazara head Sardar Haider Zaman has reiterated the resolve to continue his struggle for the creation of Hazara province and also for Fata, Seraiki and Malakand provinces.

He said the elected representatives from Hazara division would face defeat in the next general election. “They [elected representatives] cheated the voters and failed to work for the cause of the Hazara province,” he declared while addressing the 7th anniversary of Yaum-e-Shuhada-e-Hazara at the Jinnah Chowk in Abbottabad on Wednesday.

The leaders of Pakistan People’s Party, All Pakistan Muslim League, Pakistan Awami Raj Party and others were present on the occasion.

The elderly Sardar Haider Zaman, also known as Baba Haider Zaman, criticised the elected representatives from Hazara division for misleading the people of their constituencies and forgetting about their promise to work for Hazara province.

Addressing the gathering, chief of Pakistan Awami Raj Party and independent MNA from Muzaffargarh  in Punjab province, Jamshed Dasti said the elected representatives deceived the voters to reach the assemblies for committing loot and plunder.

He said that his party’s manifesto included the demands for the creation of Hazara and Fata provinces. He asked the local people not to vote in the coming election in favour of those who won assembly seats in the name of Hazara province and then forgot about it.

Jamshed Dasti told the crowd that the people of his native Muzaffargarh rejected those elements in the election who in the past cheated the voters and didn’t honour their election pledges.

He said the corrupt elements should not be sent to the assemblies. He welcomed the formation of Tehrik (movement) for the creation of new provinces and  pledged to fight for the establishment of new and smaller administrative units including Hazara, Seraiki and Fata.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s dissident Member National Assembly (MNA) Dawar Khan Kundi who supported the creation of Seraiki province said that the proposed merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had opened their eyes.

He said their demands included the creation of Hazara, Fata and Seraiki provinces for which they have formulated a comprehensive programme to achieve their goal. Former federal minister and Chief of Fata Grand Jirga Hameedullah Khan Afridi paid tributes to those who were killed on April 12, 2010 while demanding Hazara province and said the slain people sacrificed their lives for a cause.
