Valuables burnt in shoe factory fire
LAHORE
Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were burnt when a fire erupted at a shoe factory near Timber Market in Ravi Road police limits on Saturday.
No loss of life or injury to anyone was reported. Over two dozen fire tenders of Rescue 1122 and Fire brigade participated in the operation and controlled the fire after hectic efforts for over two hours. The fire had erupted at the factory due to short circuit in the morning and engulfed the entire building. It also spread to the electric wire and poles. Thick smoke billowed into the sky while the fire was so huge that the nearby buildings were also vacated. At least 25 persons were present in the factory at the time of the incident who saved their lives by fleeing outside.
Senior officers of district government also reached the scene and supervised fire fighting operation. The Lahore DC told media the fire had erupted due to short circuit in a water pump.
