Five terrorists killed in encounter
LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department Gujrat team killed five terrorists and recovered weapons and explosives from their possession. Three accomplices of the dead terrorists managed to escape. taking advantage of darkness of night.
The Counter-Terrorism Department, Gujrat, received information that some terrorists were planning to launch attacks in Gujrat, Kharian and surrounding areas and eight terrorists belonging to TTP/Al-Qaida were present in the area of Kot Ghulam near Trikha Pull (Shadiwal), Kunjah.
The CTD Gujrat team along with operation teams raided their hideout to arrest the terrorists. The raiding team warned the terrorists to surrender. But the terrorists opened fire at the raiding party. The CTD team took cover and retaliated in self defence.
When the firing stopped, five unidentified terrorists were found dead by the firing of their own accomplices. The CTD recovered a Kalashnikov, a 222 rifle, three pistols, 3,140 gram explosives, three detonators and 36 inches safety fuse from their possession.
