Twelve people were injured in a grenade attack at Brohi Chowk in Singho Lane, Lyari, on Saturday night.
Witnesses said two men riding a motorcycle, both wearing helmets, hurled a grenade at people present near Brohi Chowk and escaped. The injured people were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi. The hospital staff said one of the 12 people, Shakoor, had suffered injuries to leg and jaw and he had undergone surgery.
They added that 11 others had suffered minor injuries and had been discharged. Chakiwara police said the attack took place at 8:45pm.
SP Lyari Aftab Nizamani said police and Rangers were present in Raangiwara and Singho Lane at all times because both were troubled areas. “Today, police and Rangers were deployed somewhere else and the miscreants took advantage of that,” he added. The official said the attack could be linked to the drug selling business.
