Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Anser Aziz said that Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) have made a comprehensive strategy under which the Authority will construct a mosque in every new sector in accordance with the future needs of the sector.
The Mayor of Islamabad expressed these views while inaugurating Masjid Al-Aman constructed by the Authority at the Rawal Town here on Friday. On this occasion, Deputy Mayors, MCI Rifat Javed, Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, Azam Khan, elected chairmen of different union councils, senior officers of CDA and MCI and large number of residents were also present. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA also offered Juma prayers at the mosque.
On this occasion Sheikh Anser Aziz said that not only new development activity in the city but construction of beautiful mosque is also among his priorities. He said when he took up charge CDA like other different projects, construction work at the mosque was also stalled. However, due to effective monitoring and keen interest in the project not only the construction work of hospital was completed but mosque has also been opened for general public.
He said the Planning Wing of the CDA has been directed to allocate plot for the mosque prior to the launching of the new sector by taking in consideration the population of the sector. He said that mosques in all new sectors would be constructed on the expense of the Authority. He further said that these mosques would not only provide a peaceful environment for prayer but would also add to the beauty of the city.
Sheikh Anser Aziz was briefed that the Masjid Al-Aman constructed on 1222.22 square yard area has been completed with the cost of Rs38 million and 1500 people can offer prayer at one time. He was informed that the Masjid consists of a main prayer hall, one underground water tank, 2 overhead water tank, 3 warandas, 35 abolition seats, 1 store, 14 toilets and 1 bathroom.
