Rawalpindi: The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has opened two new medical centres to provide consulting clinics, vaccination, radiology, laboratory and pharmacy services in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and surrounding areas.
The inauguration of these centres coincides with AKUH Clinical Laboratories’ accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, an internationally recognized standard for clinical laboratories. For patients, this means timely and more accurate diagnosis.
An official statement announced that the Hospital’s Patient Welfare Programme can support those who cannot afford quality medical care. The programme has assisted over 2.25 million patient visits with Rs 9.5 billion disbursed since its inception in 1986. As many as 177 centres offer this facility throughout the country, including 63 in Punjab.
The specialty clinics at the new centres will initially focus on family medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, and women and child health.
Located on Saidpur Road, Rawalpindi, and Jail Road, Lahore, these facilities are in addition to 100 outreach centres throughout Punjab. The country-wide network includes 14 laboratories and above 250 outreach centres in over 100 cities.
