Degrees awarded in Nowshera college
NOWSHERA: Over 130 male and female students received degrees at the maiden annual convocation of the Government Postgraduate College Nowshera here Tuesday.Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ghani was the chief guest on the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) Professor Dr Ihsan Ali, Director Higher Education Professor Muhammad Roz Khan, District Deputy Nazim Ashfaq Ahmad and a large number of lecturers, students and their parents were present.
Principal of the Government Post Graduate College Nowshera, Professor Dr Subhanullah Shah, opened the convocation by presenting the annual performance report.Around 40 students were awarded master disagrees while 90 male and female students were awarded graduation degrees on the occasion.
Professor Dr Ihsan Ali congratulated the students and lauded the services of the college in promotion of quality education.Mushtaq Ghani said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had focused its energies on the promotion of education in the province.
He said that the provincial government had changed the outdated education system and improved the standard of education in the state-run schools.The special assistant said the government had recruited 35,000 teachers through National Testing Service (NTS) and constructed 15,000 new rooms in the schools.
He said that the government had constructed two universities for women in Mardan and Swabi districts and started BS programme in 38 colleges of the province. “A vast network of universities has been established across the province,” he added.
