Labourer dies in accident

BHAKKAR: A labouer died in a road accident on Kaloorkot Road near Umar Wali on Wednesday. Irfan of Daggar Noon was moving on his motorcycle when a speeding bus hit him, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the THQ Hospital Kaloorkot where he died.
Suspect arrested from LHC CJ's courtroom

LAHORE: Security personnel on Wednesday arrested a suspect from inside the courtroom of Lahore High Court chief justice. Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah was hearing cases when the personnel found a suspicious man sitting on back benches of the courtroom clad in advocate’s uniform. The man failed to satisfy the personnel when asked to prove his identity. The security personnel shifted the suspect to an undisclosed place for interrogation.
Rs784.82m budget of Sialkot DC approved

SIALKOT: District Council chairperson Hina Arshad Warraich on Wednesday presented the first budget of the District Council worth Rs784.82 million for the period of six months. She presented the budget in a meeting of the house here. While addressing the house, Hina Arshad Warraich termed the budget as development based in which more than Rs600 million were allocated for development projects. She said that Rs150 million were allocated for the construction and repair of the roads in the district, Rs65 million for procurement of new machinery and Rs 5 million were allocated for the repair of public residences. Later, the house unanimously approved the budget.
Rain, thunderstorm likely at scattered places
Islamabad: Rain-thunderstorm with light snowfall over the hills associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, while at isolated places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Fata during the next 24 hours. An official of Met office Imran Ahmed Siddiqui told APP that scattered rainfall is forecast in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions, while at isolated places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Fata. However, hailstorms may occur at some places. A westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist till Saturday.
Five arrested for illegal trade

LAHORE: Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) of FIA Lahore Wednesday conducted three different raids in the provincial metropolis and arrested five accused involved in illegal business of hundi/hawala. According to Incharge CCC Deputy Director Jameel Ahmed Khan Mayo, the FIA teams conducted three raids at Akbari Mandi, Anarkali and Shah Alam Market and arrested Muhammad Ahmad, Muhammad Waqas, Muhammad Ehsan, Ammar Saleem and Hamzullah for running illegal business of hundi/hawala. He said the raiding teams also recovered Pakistani and foreign currency, receipts, registers, etc from their possession. According to Jameel, three different cases have been registered against the accused persons.
SIALKOT: District and Sessions Judge Abdul Qayyum Khan on Wednesday awarded four years and six months imprisonment and Rs200,000 fine collectively to two brothers in a narcotics case. Muhammad Anwar and Rasheed Ali were arrested by the Uggoki police with 2.5kg hashish one year ago.
PAKPATTAN: A woman along with her paramour allegedly killed her minor son in Chak 65/D on Wednesday. Muhammad Ahmad had contracted marriage with accused Allah Rakhi. Later, the woman took divorce and allegedly developed relations with Qurban. On the day of the incident, Allah Rakhi, Qurban and their two unidentified accomplices allegedly murdered Allah Rakhi’s son.
FAISALABAD: Two youths died when they fell from the rooftops of their houses while flying kites in separate incidents here on Wednesday. They were Shahid Hassan of Warispura and Muhammad Irfan of Chak 227/RB.
