The Sindh Rangers on Tuesday arrested three suspects, who allegedly work as facilitators for a political party.
A spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said the arrested men – Faraz Tariq, Mohammed Sajjad and Zarrar Ahmed – extorted money from Lalu Khait, Liaquatabad area, as they pretended to be journalists and officials of the law enforcement agencies.
The accused persons also worked as facilitators for the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London, he said, adding that weapons, uniforms and fake cards were found on them. They were later handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
DG Rangers visits CPLC
Sindh Rangers DG Major General Mohammed Saeed on Tuesday visited the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) office.
A spokesman for the CPLC said the Rangers DG visited the office at the Sindh Governor’s Secretariat. He was welcomed by the Sindh CPLC chief and other senior officials.
The CPLC officials briefed him about the inception of the CPLC, its functions, core values, infrastructure and success stories during the last 27 years, the spokesman said.
They also briefed him on the connectivity with different departments and nature of complaints being handled.
He was informed that the neighbourhood care projects by the CPLC had resulted in a drastic reduction in heinous and street crimes.
The Rangers DG appreciated the role of the CPLC in maintaining databases, combating crimes with the law-enforcement agencies, initiating the neighbourhood care projects and launching welfare projects, specially the CPLC Public Schools in downtrodden areas of Karachi. He applauded the voluntary work of the CPLC team and assured the official of fill cooperation and assistance to ensure its continuity.
The Rangers DG also visited the Police Complaint Cell, the CNIC Verification System Desk, the Complaint Handling Department, the IT Cell, the Sketching Unit and the CPLC’s 24/7 Call Centre.
