PPL Balochistan Football Cup from March 10
KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Balochistan Football Cup 2017 will begin from March 10.
The organisers said that the district-level matches are scheduled to be held across six provincial divisions including Quetta, Kalat, Makran, Sibbi, Zhob and Naseerabad. As many as 35 teams will be engaged in the round matches to be held from March 10-18, followed by the final round which will begin from March 20.
The semi-finals will be conducted on March 31, followed by the final on April 2 at Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium Malibagh, Quetta.
“Following the successful PPL Balochistan Cup 2016, we are proud to host the second edition as per our commitment. In continuation of our long-term commitment with local communities in our province, we aim to engage youth through such healthy activities,” PPL Managing Director Syed Wamiq Bukhari said.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Essa said that the event had revitalised the game in Balochistan where a mega tournament was held after a long gap last year. “It was a nice event last year that provided opportunities to the young lot to show their potential,” Essa said.
The event is being organised with the collaboration of Balochistan government, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and Balochistan Football Association. Organisers said that the event would offer attractive prizes to all teams. In addition, the company would provide kits to all players besides meeting other expenses.
