Five-person show opens at Grandeur art gallery
An art exhibition featuring works of five artists, namely Fauzia Khan, Mohammad Khubaib, Maryam Irshad, Marium Khan and Naeem Rind was inaugurated at the Grandeur Art Gallery on Wednesday.
Marium Khan, the first hearing impaired student to have graduated from the Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture, in her press statement said her main interests were fine arts, miniature work and murals.
She has been designing greeting cards for the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) for over a decade.
Though Marium’s world is silent, but the extraordinary depiction of reality in her paintings grasps a viewer’s attention.
She has also completed paintings for her upcoming solo exhibition to be held by the end of the year.
Artist Fauzia Khan while discussing her work said, “I started out as a landscape artist. My series titled ‘Roots’ is one of the finest works I have done. This series established me as a fine artist amongst art critics and became synonymous with my name.”
“For me, landscape is a wide canvas because it encloses all the elements of nature that add to its beauty like flowers, leaves and roots. They all add up to a picture perfect landscape,” she said.
Fauzia further added that in most of her past series of works, she focused on only one element of a landscape and nature, and paint individual series on them whilst revolving around the same theme.
“This time, my landscape series is an amalgamation of all the elements.”
The artist further said that, “If you observe my work, you would notice that I do not paint the obvious, instead my paintings show what I feel and absorb from the nature. While painting my current series, I went through spiritual experiences, which were out of this world. Through my work, I have always tried to portray a meaningful message and explore the bond between humans and nature.”
The artist further said, “I hope that in this series viewers will find all of the above in the form of realism, surrealism, impressionism and abstraction.”
Mohammad Khubaib said he was interested in arts since his childhood. “For me, art is what I breathe in and out. I chose to paint my perception of peace, love and nature seen in everyday life. My work comprises acrylic and oil paints on canvas.”
The group show will run till February 28.
