Training in basic laws & alternative dispute resolution concludes

PESHAWAR: A five-day training in basic laws and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for members of the Dispute Resolution Councils (DRC) of four districts concluded here on Monday.

The event for the DRC members from Upper and Lower Dir, Swat and Bannu was arranged by the UNDP’s Strengthening Rule of Law Project (SRLP), in collaboration with the Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, at the Police School for Information Technology.

KP Minister for Public Health Engineering Shah Farman distributed certificates among the members as a chief guest at a ceremony.

Syed Fida Hassan Shah, DIG Training KP Police, Bilal Yar, Manager HRDC-SRSP, Shahzada Idress Hayat, ADR specialist UNDP-SLRP, spoke on the occasion. They shed light on the importance of ADR and capacity-building of DRC.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Farman lauded the services of UNDP-SLRP and European Union for strengthening the rule of law and improving access to justice in the province.

He said they were hoped engagement with DRCs would have a long lasting impact on access to justice service and the rule of the law in the province.
