Woman at Dar-ul-Aman attempts suicide

SUKKUR: A woman residing at the Dar-ul-Aman attempted suicide by cutting her wrist. The woman went into a room of the Dar-ul-Aman and locked it from inside and then cut her wrist. However, the staff of the Dar-ul-Aman, with the help of police, broke the door and took the woman to a hospital where her condition was stated to be stable. The SSP of Sukkur said that when asked from the woman the reason behind her suicide attempt she said that the staff of the Dar-ul-Aman had stopped her from talking to her parents by telephone and they also stopped her relatives from supplying food to her.
Pemra issues notice to private TV channel
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Thursday issued show cause notice to Channel 24 for airing unverified audiotape of the passengers of the ill fated PIA plane before the crash. In the notice, Pemra said the viewers have lodged complaints on twitter and complaint centre and termed the attitude of the channel as inhuman and unprofessional. The channel has been asked to file a reply by Dec 15. Pemra has the right to ban the channel or suspend its licence if reply was not satisfactory.
Member of Iran Parliament ‘Corruption
in govt is more than before revolution’

A representative of Iranian regime’s parliament from Tehran admitted widespread corruption in the regime and said: “Corruption in the government is more than before the 1979 revolution (in Iran).”According to the media, Mahmoud Sadeghi, member of parliament from Tehran and head of “transparency and economic health-making and financial discipline fraction” in the regime’s parliament, in a speech at the Amir Kabir University in Tehran once again criticised corruption in the government institutions and the reaction of the judiciary to his question in the parliament (regarding the report on head of judiciary’s bank accounts).
Wapda chief visits Dassu Dam site

MANSEHRA: Wapda Chairman Gen (r) Muzamal Hussain on Thursday visited site of the 4200 megawatts Dassu hydropower project and met with affected families of the dam.”I am here to extend my heartfelt thanks to entire Kohistanis and 80-member committee of landowners in settling the issues and soon work on the mega dam would be started,” he told a gathering. Deputy Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmad, MPA Abdus Sattar Khan and General Manager Dassu dam Javed Akhtar were also present on the occasion. The Wapda chairman lauded the role of landowners and people for leaving their ancestral land for the greater national cause.
Earthquake jolts Malakand, Chitral
ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of mild intensity jolted Malakand, Chitral and adjoining areas on Thursday morning. The earthquake measured 5.3 on the open-ended Richter scale. However, no causalty or loss of life was reported from anywhere.
Wolesi Jirga endorses Ghani’s anti-Pakistan stance

KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani, in his address at the 6th annual conference of the Heart of Asia in India, slammed Pakistan for allegedly exporting terror, providing terrorists financial resources and hideouts. “Ghani’s stance against Pakistan at the Heart of Asia Conference was the right decision, thus we strongly back president,” said member of Wolesi Jirga Fatema Aziz. She said the Afghan government often proved its sincerity to Pakistan in the past decade, but Pakistan instead struggled to send terrorists to Afghanistan. The Afghan government and parliament must have a clear stance against Pakistan, she added. Another member of Wolesi Jirga Nazifa Zaki said the Afghan people are not beggars and don’t need Pakistan’s aid.
ASF announces two Shaheeds in PIA crash

Karachi: The Airport Security Force announced on Thursday that two of the ASF’s highly professional and outstanding Air Guards had died as they were onboard the unfortunate PIA flight PK-661 from Chitral to Islamabad, which crashed near Havelian, Abbottabad, the other day. The spokesman for ASF identified the deceased Air Guards as Assistant Sub-Inspector Ahsan Ghaffar from Rawalpindi and Corporal Sami Ullah from Dera Ghazi Khan. The DG ASF has offered condolences and sympathies to bereaved families of persons who had lost their lives in the tragic air accident.
IGP KP visits Swat, Buner

MINGORA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Thursday visited Swat and Buner districts and inspected an under- construction police post in Karakar. Deputy Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan briefed the IGP on the law and order situation in Malakand Division. The provincial police chief, along with the District Police Officer (DPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat, visited Karakar hilly area and inspected an under-construction police post there. IGP Nasir Khan Durrani also distributed cash prizes and commendation certificates among the cops for good performance. Later, the IGP visited the Buner district where DPO Irshad Khan welcomed him upon his arrival.
