Stage actress Kismat Baig shot dead
LAHORE
A stage actress was shot dead over an old enmity while her driver was injured by four unidentified persons in the Harbancepura area on Thursday morning .
Police said victim Kismat Baig, a stage actress, was returning home with her driver after rehearsal of a drama at Tamaseel Theatre at about 3am. As they reached near Canal Bank Scheme, four unidentified persons riding a car and bike intercepted them. They stopped the victim’s car, and attacked it with clubs, kicks and fists. After a few moments, they opened indiscriminate firing.
The victims suffered bullet injuries and were admitted to Services Hospital where the actresses succumbed to her injuries.
Doctors said that victim Kismat had sustained four bullet injuries in her leg. Her driver Ali Butt suffered one bullet injury in his foot. Police said that they received information about the incident from hospital.
They have collected forensic evidences from the crime scene and recorded the statements of the eyewitnesses, police said.
SP Operations Cantt Tahir Rehman said that they were searching for the culprits. He said initial investigation revealed that the actress was attacked due to personal enmity.
Her mother, while talking to media, said that she was shot for a third time; once in Faisalabad and the second time on the Canal Road in Lahore. She said it was not an incident of robbery.
found dead: A 65-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police area on Thursday.
A passerby spotted his body and informed police who removed it to morgue. Police said that the victim looked a drug-addict and might have died of an overdose of drugs. Robber killed: A suspected robber was killed reportedly by his accomplices in City Raiwind on Thursday.
Police said that three persons were returning after a robbery bid when started fighting with each other. They tortured and short at their one accomplice and fled. A passerby called police, who are investigating.
Woman injured: A 50-year-old woman was shot at and injured by her son-in-law at Kahna.
Police said the wife of the accused went to her parents’ house as he would maltreat her. On the day of the incident, he went to his in-laws house where they exchanged harsh words with his mother-in-law. On which, he got infuriated and shot at her.
gutted: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt in a fire erupted in a house at Shafiqabad on Thursday.
Rescue officials said that a fire broke out in a house near Mian Munshi Hospital.
