SWA tribes directed to surrender illegal weapons
WANA: A senior military officer on Tuesday directed the Ahmadzai Wazir tribes to surrender illegal weapons and expel anti-social elements from their respective areas.
General Officer Commanding (GOC), Wana, Major General Khalid Wasim issued the directives during a condolence reference held for Major Imran, who was killed in a bomb blast in Rustam Bazaar in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) on November 3 last. Another six soldiers were wounded in the attack.
The tribal elders of Ahmadzai Wazir tribes had organised the condolence reference held in Wana, the administrative headquarters of South Waziristan Agency. He asked the tribespeople to take practical steps at the local level to prevent such incidents in future. The tribal elders condemned the attack on the security forces, saying the militants wanted to create mistrust and division among the people and security forces by staging such attacks.
