Pemra allows Indian TV channels, content in Pakistan conditionally
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Monday decided to allow Indian television channels and Indian content in Pakistan as much Pakistan’s content and artists would be allowed there. The unanimous decision to this effect was taken at the 119th meeting of Pemra here at its headquarters under its Chairman Absar Alam. In this connection, a summary had been sent to the government, in which it had been clearly recommended that Indian content in Pakistan should be made conditional to Pakistan’s in India. These recommendations will do away with the policy announced during the regime of Pervez Musharraf and Pakistan’s media industry would get a boost and flourish. The meeting reiterated that after October 15, action would be taken against the illegal channels and illegal content as per the Pemra laws without any discrimination.
