Shahbaz promises support in action against Indian channels
LAHORE: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) chairman Absar Alam briefed Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the crackdown against Indian channels through illegal DTH, which would be launched from October 15.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister described the move as a welcome step and said the Punjab government would extend full cooperation to the regulatory body.
The remarks came as a Pemra delegation met Shahbaz on Saturday. He said necessary instructions had been issued for an inquiry into the incident of hooliganism and harassment of the employees during the hearing of an application against the NEO channel at Pemra’s Lahore Office. Shahbaz also assured Absar of assistance in setting up Pemra offices in big cities.
