President says artists are our national asset
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said that artists are national asset who are rendering great services in the field of art and culture besides promoting soft image of the country.
Chairing the 5th meeting of the steering committee of the Federal Government Artists Welfare Fund at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, during which matters relating to the Welfare Fund and artists were discussed, the president said that artists, poets and writers are cultural ambassadors and play a significant role in promoting social and cultural norms of a country.
He said the government is committed to promote art and cultural activities in the country and in this regard is taking various measures to encourage the artists. The meeting was attended, among others, by Attaul Haq Qasmi, Mustafa Qureshi, Muhammad Qawi Khan and Asghar Nadeem Syed besides high government officials.
