‘Unicef wants children to become healthy and useful citizens’
SUKKUR: Unicef Country Representative Angila Kearny met the children of safe play area in Khanpur and Tando Masti union councils of Khairpur district during her visit to meet members of the local support organizations and village organizations to inspect the Promoting of Child Rights in Cotton Farming Areas (CRCFA) and other Unicef-funded projects being implemented by the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).
She said that Unicef was working for child protection, health, childhood development, immunization and nutrition. “We do not work alone but with government, local communities and local organizations to carry out our activities properly,” she said. She said that Unicef wanted children to become healthy and useful citizens.
The Unicef delegation later visited the computer lab, planted tree saplings in different UCs and held detailed meetings with the representatives of the local support organizations, income generation grant beneficiaries and adolescent groups.
Earlier, the CEO of SRSO, Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro, welcomed the guests. He appreciated the government of Sindh and Unicef for supporting rural development programmes.
