Two girls gang-raped

Two girls were gang-raped by four people in the limits of Naseerabad police on Tuesday. 

The victims were identified as Khadeeja and Asma of Hunrykay Colony Naseerabad. According to complainant Kausar Bibi, her sister Khadeeja and daughter Asma went to Data Darbar to distribute langar (food) among the visitors when accused Mahmood met them and offered to drop them at their house. He took the girls to Bhabara Chowk in his car where his three unidentified accomplices also sat in the car. They took the girls to an under construction house in Hunrykay Colony and allegedly raped them. Naseerabad police have registered a case against the rapists on the complaint of Kausar Bibi. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man and a teenage boy were kidnapped from different areas of the city. Naveed was kidnapped by some unidentified persons in the limits of Harbanspura police. Naveed had left his house and did not return home. His brother Tanveer suspected that his brother was kidnapped. Harbanspura police have registered a case against unidentified kidnappers on the complaint of Tanveer. A 13-year-old boy was kidnapped by some unidentified persons in the limits of Shalimar police. The boy was identified as Usman, son of Safdar of Mohalla Madho Lal Hussain Shalimar. The victim’s father Safdar suspected that his son was abducted by some unidentified kidnappers. Shalimar police have registered a case on the complaint of Safdar. Yet in another incident, a factory owner was threatened by an extortionist to pay him Rs 500,000 extortion money in the limits of Manawan police. Complainant Arshad of Chungi Stop near Quaid-e-Azam Interchange told the police that he received a call from 0340-4305496 and the caller threatened him to pay the money if he wanted to see his family alive. He warned him that he would kill his family if he failed to deliver the said extortion money within the next few hours, the complainant said. Manawan police registered a case against the unidentified extortionist on the complaint of Arshad. 

Our correspondent adds: Two men, both unidentified so far, were found dead in different parts of the City on Tuesday.

Data Darbar police found the body of a man lying on Shesh Mahal Road.

Bhatti Gate police found the body of a man. 

Police claimed that both men were addicts who might have died of overdoses of drugs.  The bodies have been removed to morgue.

accidents: Total 690 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours;.

Ten people were killed and 575 critically injured in the accidents. The injured were shifted to hospitals. However, some 219 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid by the emergency medical teams.

campaign: The city traffic officer visited a traffic awareness camp set up on The Mall on Tuesday to educate the citizens about the fatal results of doing wheelie.

He said that at least 150,000 pamphlets as part of anti wheelie campaign had been distributed among the people so far in the City. He said that the police would continue the campaign till Eid ul Azha.

He directed the traffic education in charge to arrange lectures on road safety on regular basis.
