The deputy chair of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast), Jamil Ahmed Khan, has been removed from his position, according to an official notification issued by the Presidency.
Sources said that officials in the Ministry of Education were displeased with Mr Khan for convening a Senate meeting at a time when high-level investigations into alleged financial irregularities and administrative misconduct by Vice Chancellor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari were underway.
During that Senate session, attempts were reportedly made to regularise several matters related to Dr Shinwari, including his salary and a number of alleged favoured appointments, sources added.
