Tribute paid to Allama Iqbal as ‘poet of hope’
Guests and young speakers from different schools paid glowing tribute to Shair-e-Mashriq Allama Muhammad Iqbal and reaffirmed his message of hope in a monthly Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi session, held at the Bait-ul-Hikmah Auditorium.
Ms Sadia Rashid, President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, said that Dr Allama Iqbal reminded us that no nation can progress without education, discipline, good character, and a higher sense of responsibility. Children must embrace his philosophy of khudi (self-realization) which means believing in one’s abilities, staying true to one’s purpose, and living with dignity and confidence. For today’s youth, this message is more important than ever.
Dr Ambareen Haseeb Amber said that confident and well-disciplined children are the true promise of Pakistan’s bright future. Hakim-ul-Ummat, chose children and young people as the focus of his poetry. Great individuals are people of insight and wisdom; they think ahead and keep their attention on the future and through children they build a bright future for their people. This is exactly what Shaheed-e-Pakistan Hakim Mohammed Said also did. By establishing a respected platform like the Hamdard Naunehal Assembly, he laid the foundation for nation-building. Inshallah, it will continue to guide and shape young minds in the years to come.
“In Allama Iqbal’s time, the Muslims of the subcontinent were surrounded by despair. The poetry of his contemporaries and the writings of many authors reflected this hopelessness. But Allama Iqbal, a visionary deeply concerned for his people, inspired hope during difficult days,” she added. The young speakers from different schools paid a heartfelt tribute to Allama Iqbal, calling him the poet of hope.
