BHC rejects Ogra’s report on gas billing
Declaring the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (Ogra) report “unsatisfactory”, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) has expressed severe displeasure and strongly advised the Ogra officials to implement its June 23, 2024 order with regard to gas billing.
BHC division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Kamran Khan Mulakhel and Justice Ayoub Khan Tareen heard the case filed by Advocate Syed Nazir Agha during which high-ranking Ogra officials appeared in the court and submitted a report.
During the hearing, petitioner Agha informed the court that the gas company was continuously violating the BHC’s order of June 23, 2024, and has sent bills amounting to thousands and hundreds of thousands of rupees to people in the month of October. To which, Justice Mulakhel expressed severe displeasure and strongly advised the Ogra officials to implement the June 23, 2024 order, while declaring their submitted report unsatisfactory.
The court returned the report and ordered the officials to appear at the next hearing on December 11 with a report confirming the implementation of the June 23, 2024 order.
During the proceedings, Muhammad Imran, the gas company’s billing in-charge, assured the court that they will correct all bills that included additional charges.
