ISLAMABAD: Russian energy minister Sergei Tsivilev is set to visit Islamabad later this month.

During the two-day visit starting on November 26, Mr Tsivilev will co-chair the 10th meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation, according to officials.

In recent years, Pakistani and Russian delegations have stepped up visits and interactions to strengthen bilateral ties across multiple sectors and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

Officials told ‘The News’ that Mr Tsivilev’s visit was expected to further enhance collaboration, especially in the energy sector, and open discussions on trade, investment, science and cultural exchange.

According to them, the two-day meetings will provide a platform to review ongoing projects, discuss future cooperation and identify strategies to deepen economic and technological partnerships between the two countries.

They hoped that the talks would pave the way for new agreements and initiatives that benefit both nations. When contacted, spokesman for the Russian Embassy in Islamabad Igor Kolesnikov confirmed the visit and said the Russian energy minister would attend the 10th session of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission and hold talks with Pakistani officials aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring collaboration opportunities.
