Waqas slams ‘vile’ smear campaign against Imran, Bushra
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Waqas Akram Sunday claimed that petrified rulers were undermining institutions and defacing the Constitution to strengthen individuals, solely to perpetuate their ‘fake’ rule.
“However, they must remember that only strong state institutions — not powerful individuals — can guarantee a sustainable and stable government,” he said in a statement issued here.
Lashing out at the PPP and ANP leadership, Waqas said that Bilawal buried the legacies of Bhutto and Benazir, while Aimal Wali dishonored the legacies of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan, all for petty political interests and expediency.
He expressed hope that the newly constituted constitutional court and LHC would follow suit and prevent the uncle-niece from squandering public funds on self-promotion and frivolous foreign trips.
The PTI spokesman denounced the ‘vile and agenda-driven’ smear campaign launched by political dwarfs against the nation’s true leader Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, warning the malicious propaganda-peddlers that those living in glass houses must refrain from hurling stones at others.
He recalled that PPP and PMLN had entered into a marriage of convenience and ganged up to save their own skin, driven by fear of Imran Khan and PTI, otherwise, the people did not forget their decades-long war of fact-based character assassination.
He claimed that the nation would soon see these imposed rulers either ending up in jails or scrambling onto planes in a desperate attempt to flee the country and escape public wrath.
Waqas lamented that while the 26th Amendment had shaken the very foundation of the trichotomy of power, the 27th has virtually murdered the Constitution. He charged that the illegitimate government adopted a Trojan horse tactic with the judiciary and bargained with ruin to sustain itself.
However, he warned that the rulers must bear in mind that Faustian bargains always end in tragedy, and those who believe they are untouchable are mistaken because ‘society can survive infidelity but not injustice’.
