Minister urges greater support for PTI in Imran’s release struggle
NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers would play a full role in the struggle for the release of the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
“All PTI workers will unite and move toward the capital whenever Chief Minister Sohail Afridi or Imran Khan announces a march toward Islamabad,” he said while addressing a party workers’ convention in Nowshera.
The minister stated that PTI leadership in KP has always been at the forefront of the struggle. However, one major reason for the party’s weakened momentum has been the delayed participation of workers from Punjab, who often look to KP for direction, he added.
Mian Khaliq urged the people of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to take to the streets with the same enthusiasm as the people of KP do. He said that PTI has maintained a clear lead in all elections held in Nowshera since 2013, which demonstrates that 90 percent of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa still stand with Imran Khan and PTI. The minister noted that the KP chief minister is holding gatherings across various districts of the province, with each successive event surpassing the previous one, an indicator of growing public confidence in the party.
He added that the struggle of the people of KP for Imran Khan’s release will go down in history.Referring to the violent events of November 26 last year in Islamabad, he said: “We witnessed the martyrdom of PTI workers with our own eyes, while the rulers in the federal government subjected the Pakhtuns to extreme oppression.”
Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman held the federal government responsible for the rising wave of terrorism, saying that the poor conditions of tribal communities and Pakhtuns are the result of policies that have fueled instability in the region. He criticized deteriorating relations with neighboring countries, which have worsened the situation, harming people on both sides while benefiting enemy forces.
