AJK speaker calls session to decide no-trust against PM
MUZAFFARABAD/ ISLAMABAD: Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar has convened a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for November 17, to deliberate on the no-confidence motion submitted against Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.
The prime minister will be granted a full opportunity to present whatever he wishes in his defence, after which the voting process will begin. For the motion to succeed, at least 27 members of the assembly will be required to cast their votes in its favour by raising their hands to support the resolution.
Following the counting of votes by the speaker, the number of members voting in favour will be formally announced. If the necessary majority is secured, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq will be removed from the office and Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore will be elected as the new prime minister.
Meanwhile, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tasked the PPP’s nominee for Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore with enhancing public engagement in order to stay informed about the genuine challenges being faced by the AJK people.
Faisal Mumtaz Rathore called on Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari here at the Zardari House on Saturday. PPP Women’s Wing President Faryal Talpur was also present during the meeting.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on his nomination for the post of Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir and urged him to address the issues facing the AJK people with responsibility and dedication. He said resolving the problems of AJK people is the primary responsibility of the upcoming AJK government.
Faisal Mumtaz Rathore expressed gratitude to the PPP leadership for reposing confidence in him and nominating him for the top office.
Meanwhile, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore met with PPP’s Women’s Wing President Faryal Talpur and reaffirmed his resolve to carry forward the vision of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto with regard to the Kashmir cause.
During the meeting here at the Zardari House, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore expressed full confidence in the party leadership and thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur for reposing trust in him.
Faryal Talpur, while congratulating Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, advised him to formulate a comprehensive plan aimed at the development and welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir, particularly the youth.
She further stressed the need for ensuring effective governance and translating the party’s commitments into tangible public service.
