Ayaz offers facilitation in govt-opposition dialogue

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Wednesday once again offered his good offices to facilitate dialogue between the government and opposition.

“As a Speaker and custodian of the House, I am ready to facilitate dialogue between the government and the opposition,” he said while responding to a point raised by the opposition member Mahmood Achakzai in his speech. The speaker said the prime minister had repeatedly offered dialogue and the same was followed by the law minister.

He observed that there might not be an outcome in the short term but there would be the result after a month. “But the condition is that you are ready to sit for the dialogue,” he said. He also expressed his readiness to bring the government to the negotiation table. “I shall even convince the opposition and brought them on the table,” he said.

However, Mahmood Khan Achakzai immediately rejected the offer while taking the floor soon.

“We shall not talk to your government which stole the mandate of people”, he said, adding that first the mandate of people be returned to their real representatives.

Earlier, in his speech, Achakzai said the opposition will offer unconditional support for supremacy of Constitution and parliament.
