Senate adopts condolence resolution for Irfan Siddiqui
ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Wednesday unanimously adopted a condolence resolution expressing profound grief and sorrow over the passing of Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui, paying tribute to his services as a lawmaker, columnist and author.
Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar moved the resolution, which was passed unanimously as several senators spoke to honour the late senator.
The resolution stated, “This House expresses its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui, a distinguished member of the Senate of Pakistan, who passed away on November 10, 2025.
Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui was prominently known as a famous columnist and author of many books. His notable writings include the books titled: PTI and Pakistan: From Cypher to Final Call and Qalam ko Hathkari.”
It further noted, “His political career was deeply intertwined with the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), where he served as a key intellectual and Special Adviser on National Affairs to the former Prime Minister, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He served as a Senator representing Punjab Province from March 2021 until his death and held key roles, including Parliamentary Party Leader of the PMLN in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training.”
The resolution highlighted that the late senator was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz, one of the nation’s highest civil awards, by the President of Pakistan in 2014 in recognition of his distinguished services in journalism, literature and public service. It acknowledged that his services would be long remembered and his loss would be deeply mourned. It also conveyed sympathies with the family of the late senator.
