PTI will not support 27th Amendment: Salman Akram
ISLAMABAD: ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated on Tuesday that his party will not support the 27th Amendment
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, he declared: “We will tell the world that a sham has been created in the name of democracy in Pakistan. The essence of the state lies in the constitution and the rule of law—we prioritise the constitution and the people of Pakistan above all. He clarified that the party had not adopted a confrontational stance, explaining: “We came here to meet our leader Imran Khan in accordance with the law, yet the courts consistently fail to enforce their own decisions.” Emphasising prisoners’ rights, he added: “A detainee has the fundamental right to meet his lawyer. If the court does not summon anyone, then the court itself becomes complicit.”
Looking ahead, Salman Akram Raja announced the party’s next step: “We will take to the streets—the whole of Pakistan will have to come out.” After being denied access to PTI founder Imran Khan, his sisters and party workers immediately staged a sit-in on Adiala Road. Earlier, Salman Akram Raja had a heated exchange with police after being physically stopped.
