Passenger car sales up 28pc in October
KARACHI: Passenger car sales by members of the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) rose by 28 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in October 2025, signalling a recovery in demand amid improving economic conditions. However, small cars of 1000cc and below witnessed some decline.
According to PAMA data released on Tuesday, total passenger car sales stood at 13,513 units in October 2025, compared with 10,557 units in the same month last year. On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales were up 11 per cent from 12,126 units in September 2025, showing continued momentum in the sector.
During the first four months of FY26 (July-October), cumulative passenger car sales climbed 40 per cent to 42,831 units, compared with 30,625 units in the same period last year. Analysts noted that the pickup in sales was largely supported by better availability of CKD kits, relaxed import controls, and improved consumer confidence stemming from a steadier exchange rate and lower interest rates.

The tractor segment witnessed higher sales after a long time, as sales rose to 2,886 units in October 2025 from 1,733 units last year. According to Myesha Sohail at Topline Securities, YoY growth is supported by a more stable macroeconomic environment, introduction of more variants, lower interest rates, easing inflation and improving consumer sentiment.
MoM sales remained stable, primarily due to an 18 per cent decline in Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) volumes, as the company undergoes a major reset in 2025. As per reports, the discontinuation of Ravi, Bolan, Every VX and Wagon R models led to MoM declines of 17 per cent, 84 per cent, and 28 per cent in Swift, Ravi and Every models, respectively, while Bolan has not recorded any sales since May 2025.
