Karachi International Book Fair to begin on Dec 18
The Karachi International Book Fair is set to be held from December 18 to 22 at the Expo Centre, featuring over 325 stalls showcasing books from leading local and international publishers. The event is expected to draw more than 5 million visitors, organizers announced on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association (PPBA) Chairman Kamran Noorani said the fair has become a major cultural and literary event, bringing together readers, writers, and publishers on a single platform to promote the love of books and learning.
He was accompanied by PPBA Secretary General and Book Fair Convener Waqar Mateen, Vice Chairman Nadeem Mazhar, Urdu Bazaar Traders Association Chairman Sajid Yousuf, and renowned publisher Ameena Saiyid.
Noorani noted that the PPBA is the officially registered representative body of publishers and booksellers in Sindh. He added that preparations for the fair are well under way, with 85 percent of the Expo Centre already booked.
Convener Waqar Mateen said this year’s edition would be “bigger and better,” expecting a record turnout of book enthusiasts. Nadeem Mazhar said the National Book Foundation and other public institutions are fully supporting the event.
