Maryam arrives in Brazil to attend COP30 conference
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz arrived in Brazil to present her vision on climate resilience, clean Punjab, electric vehicles, protection and promotion of forests and wildlife at the Global COP 30 Conference.
She will deliver a keynote address on her vision and measures for environmental improvement in Punjab.
The COP30 Conference will continue till Nov 21. On the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will also meet world leaders, leadership of international environmental organisations and experts.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique are also accompanying her on the visit.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her special message on the birth anniversary of poet of the East and Thinker of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the government and people of Punjab salute the intellectual greatness of Thinker of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
She added that Allama Iqbal was not only a poet but a reformer and a mentor too, who gave the Muslims of the Subcontinent a sense of freedom through his poetry.
She highlighted that Allama Iqbal set direction of the Indian Muslims while Quaid-i-Azam led them towards their final destination, the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of Subcontinent.
The Punjab CM underscored that Allama Iqbal gave a thought-provoking message to the youth through his poetry. She noted that his lesson of self-reliance is his great favor for the Muslims.
She highlighted that practising his philosophy of self-reliance is the best way to express love for Allama Iqbal, through which Pakistan will become a moderate and welfare state. She added that the best way to pay tribute to Allama Iqbal is to follow his poetry and thoughts.
She said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal taught self-control, high values, fairness, frankness and democracy through his thought-provoking poetry. She added that he was a torchbearer of the universal message of Islam, which is alive and lasting for all times. She flagged that there is an urgent need to understand Allama Iqbal’s thoughts for Pakistan, as it is need of the hour to establish a free, fair and just economic and social system by following his thoughts.
“Only through true interpretation of his thoughts and philosophy Pakistan can achieve a prominent place politically, economically, religiously and socially in the comity of nations. We, as a nation, must reiterate our resolve to make his thoughts a beacon of light for us,” she underscored.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz expressed a deep sense of grief and sorrow over death of former MNA Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema. She offered condolences and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
