Families of slain lawyer, SHO formally reconcile
CHARSADDA: The families of slain lawyer Mian Asim Shah and former station house officer (SHO) of the Charsadda City Police Station Behramand Shah formally reconciled at a ceremony held here on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Azmatullah Wazir, Superintendent of Police (Operations), Peshawar, Masood Ahmad Bangash, former Regional Police Officer (RPO), Mardan, Jawad Qamar, District Police Officer, Charsadda, Muhammad Owais Khan, SP Ihsan Shah, Atique Shah, members of both the families and several prominent social and political figures of Charsadda played a vital role in facilitating the reconciliation.
The incident occurred on August 22 when former SHO Behramand Shah attempted to seize a gun from a local person. During the scuffle, a shot was fired, resulting in the martyrdom of Asim Shah advocate. A case had been filed against the SHO following the incident.
The reconciliation ceremony was attended by former Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Opposition Leader in the Provincial Assembly Dr Ibadullah Khan, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Azmatullah Wazir, RPO Mardan Rabnawaz Khan, SP Operations Masood Bangash, DPO Charsadda Muhammad Owais, President of the District Bar Association Mujeebur Rehman advocate along with senior members of the Mian family, district leaders of various political parties and social dignitaries.
Speakers at the ceremony praised the efforts of the jirga elders and described the reconciliation as an important step toward peace and harmony in the district.They said that it was an unfortunate incident that resulted in the martyrdom of a young lawyer and emphasised that resolving matters through understanding and dialogue reflected wisdom and maturity.The relatives of the slain lawyer forgave the accused former SHO of Charsadda City Police Station, Behramand Shah and formally reconciled.
