Khurram Ali takes charge as NCCIA chief
ISLAMABAD: BS-21 officer from PSP Khurram Ali was Wednesday appointed as Director General (DG) National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The Establishment Division notified this high-profile appointment.
Khurram’s appointment comes at a critical juncture when the NCCIA has recently faced administrative challenges and a high-profile corruption scandal involving several of its officials. The appointment of an experienced BS-21 officer from the PSP is seen as a strategic move to stabilise leadership, enhance operational effectiveness, and restore public trust in the agency.
The NCCIA, which operates under the Ministry of Interior, was established in May 2024, replacing the Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), to strengthen the fight against digital crimes under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016.
Belonging to 26th Common (CTP), Khurram’s extensive background in law-enforcement is expected to provide the necessary expertise to confront complex cyber threats and improve investigative procedures.
