QWP accuses govt of ignoring public welfare
CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Tuesday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of neglecting public welfare, saying it was more concerned about the release of the jailed PTI founder than addressing the people’s problems.
Speaking at a gathering in Sherpao village to mark the 13th foundation day of the QWP, he said that the chief minister had yet to form his cabinet, which reflected his misplaced priorities.
A large number of party workers and local office-bearers attended the event and chanted slogans in support of the QWP leadership.
Sikandar Sherpao alleged that the provincial government was being run through “remote control” and lacked any clear policy to resolve the issues faced by the common people.“The provincial government has diverted its resources to secure the release of the PTI leader,” he claimed, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its residents were grappling with multiple problems.
He said corruption was rampant, law and order was deteriorating and inflation had made life miserable for the poor, yet the government had no plan to provide relief. The QWP leader said that lawlessness had become widespread, particularly in the southern and merged districts, where people felt unsafe moving around after sunset.
“Peace is a prerequisite for development,” he said, adding that the government had ignored peace restoration and other pressing issues facing the province. He urged the authorities to take concrete steps to restore peace, saying that the people had lost trust in the government. He said citizens were suffering due to growing insecurity, unemployment, and inflation.
“The prices of daily-use items such as flour, sugar and ghee have skyrocketed but there is no effective price control mechanism to check artificial price-hike,” he added.
