Martyred SP, two cops laid to rest
KOHAT: The Superintendent of Police (operation), Hangu, Asad Zubair, and two other cops martyred the previous day in Hangu blast laid to rest in their respective areas with state honours on Saturday.
The funeral prayers were attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Additional IG, Additional IG Special Branch, Regional Police Officer (RPO), Kohat, Abbas Majid Marwat, Kohat Commissioner Mutasim Billah Shah, Kohat deputy commissioner, Kohat Deputy Police Officer Dr Zahidullah, lawmaker Shehryar Afridi, relatives and a large number of local local were also present at the burial.
The funeral prayers and burial of SP Asad Zubair were held at his ancestral graveyard in Nawan Killay in Kohat where he was laid to rest with full police honours.
SP Asad Zubair and two constables had been martyred in the Hangu blast, which occurred a day earlier.
The funeral prayers of the two other martyred policemen were held with full state honours in their native areas of Hangu.
SP Asad Zubair had no children and left behind his widow and a brother. His father, who served as a DSP in the police, had also been martyred in 1981 in Bannu after being shot by unidentified assailants during duty. SP Asad Zubair was also a cousin of MNA Shehryar Afridi.
