FIA arrests 15 over illegal kidney transplants, visa fraud

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its crackdown across Punjab, arresting 15 suspects involved in illegal organ transplants, human smuggling, and visa fraud.

In Lahore, the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle arrested six suspects, including a proclaimed offender, for their alleged involvement in illegal kidney transplants. The accused were apprehended in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. They are accused of preparing fake tissue reports, using private hospitals for unlawful transplants, and extorting large sums of money from patients.

In Multan, four suspects were arrested for defrauding citizens of millions of rupees by offering fake overseas jobs. The accused allegedly collected money on the pretext of providing employment opportunities in Canada, Spain, and Iraq, as well as arranging Umrah travel.

Meanwhile, the FIA Gujranwala Zone arrested five human smugglers involved in sending citizens illegally to Europe via sea routes.

The suspects had taken over Rs15 million from victims under the guise of facilitating foreign

employment.

According to FIA spokesperson, investigations are under way, and further arrests are expected as the agency expands its crackdown against illegal organ trade and human smuggling networks.
