Kohat-Karak boundary: 17 terrorists killed in over 3 months of operations: official
KOHAT: At least 17 terrorists were killed and 83 search and strike operations were carried out during the past three months in the hilly areas along the boundary of Kohat, Karak and Mianwali, officials said on Friday.
District Police Officer (DPO), Karak, Shehbaz Elahi told the media that the operations were part of ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism from the region. He added that four police personnel embraced martyrdom during these operations.
According to the DPO, the slain militants were affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Kohat and Karak chapters.During the operations, he said, police recovered three hand grenades, 43 Kalashnikovs, six Klakov rifles, 12 other rifles, 188 pistols, 53 shotguns and repeaters, and over 12,000 rounds of ammunition.
Additionally, the official said, 190 kilograms of hashish and 13 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) were seized. Police also arrested 44 wanted suspects in murder cases and 61 in attempted murder cases.DPO Shehbaz Elahi further said that to ensure justice at the local level, 85 disputes were resolved through the District Reconciliation Committee (DRC). He expressed hope that the strength of the Karak police would be increased in the coming year to further enhance security and improve law enforcement capabilities in the district.
