Pakistan condemns Israeli violation of Gaza peace accord
ISLAMABAD: With the Gaza Peace Plan having not lasted even one month, Pakistan on Wednesday urged the international community to take urgent and effective measures to end the Israeli violations and to ensure full implementation of the ceasefire and protection of Palestinian civilians.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the renewed attacks by the Israeli occupying forces in Gaza, resulting in the loss of numerous civilian lives. Such actions run contrary to the spirit of the peace agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh in the presence of leadership from Muslim and the Arab world, US, Europe and the UN,” said the Foreign Office in a statement.
Pakistan, while expressing full support for Palestinians, called for an immediate end to Israeli hostilities and reiterated its principled position for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke on the phone late Tuesday last night with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan as Israel broke the ceasefire which saw Palestinians come under attack once again.
Building on their previous discussions, the two leaders reviewed recent regional developments, including Gaza and Palestine. “Both reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace & stability in the region and agreed to stay closely engaged on matters of mutual interest,” said the Foreign Office.
Meanwhile, Thursday (today) will see Poland Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rados aw Sikorski undertaking a two-day official visit to Pakistan. This will be Minister Sikorski’s second official visit to Pakistan; his previous visit took place in 2011.
During the visit, DPM/ FM Dar will hold a one-on-one meeting as well as delegation-level talks with his Polish counterpart. The two sides are expected to discuss the full spectrum of bilateral relations. The talks will be followed by a joint press stakeout, said the Foreign Office.
Sikorski’s visit marks a significant milestone in Pakistan-Poland relations. Pakistan remains committed to enhancing cooperation with Poland for the mutual benefit of both countries. Also, Pakistan will be hosting the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, in early 2026.
In this regard, Dar chaired a meeting to review preparations for this historical event but surprisingly in the roomful of male officials only a single woman minister was present.
“The DPM/ FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming conference and underscored the importance of advancing women’s issues within the OIC framework. He highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment and underscored the need for close coordination with the OIC to achieve these shared goals,” said a statement.
The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for law & justice and IT & telecommunication, SAPM on foreign affairs and other senior officials.
