Shehbaz, Nawaz discuss party affairs, govt policies
LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met PMLN supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umrah on Sunday. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also present in the meeting.
Party sources said Nawaz Sharif provided his guidance on national matters as the two leaders consulted on party affairs and government policies and expressed their determination to work together for the stability of the country and public relief.
Party sources said the meeting also discussed the ongoing rift between PPP and PMLN, situation of KP after the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur and the upcoming local government elections in Punjab.
The prime minister briefed Nawaz Sharif in detail about his visit to Malaysia and conveyed the best wishes of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Nawaz Sharif. He told Nawaz Sharif that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, especially economic cooperation, will be reaching new heights.
The prime minister and PMLN stalwarts also discussed the ongoing situation of Pakistan and Afghanistan border. They paid tribute to Pakistan armed forces for their effective and comprehensive response to Afghanistan’s provocations.
The PM said the entire nation stood with Pakistan armed forces to defend the country. The PM also told them about his upcoming visit to Egypt.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during which detailed discussions were held on internal security, law and order situation, counter-terrorism efforts and other key security matters.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the prime minister on the overall law and order situation across the country and the measures being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Interior to strengthen internal security.
The prime minister appreciated the efforts of the interior minister and his team, directing that coordinated and effective actions must continue to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
Reaffirming his government’s resolve, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that safeguarding the lives and property of the people, upholding the rule of law, and eradicating terrorism remain among the foremost priorities.
