CJP inaugurates first virtual court in Chitral

CHITRAL/ PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Khan Afridi has performed the inaugural ceremony of the newly established first Virtual Court in Booni, Upper Chitral.

Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice SM Attique Shah, Principal Staff Officer Imranullah, District and Sessions Judge of Upper Chitral Naveedur Rehman, Sessions Judge of Lower Dir Shehnaz Hamid Khattak, Additional Registrar Adil Majeed, Additional Sessions Judge Wahab Qureshi, Senior Civil Judge of Upper Chitral Arshad Ali Mohmand, Senior Civil Judge of Lower Dir Farmanullah, and others were present on the occasion.

He said that the purpose of setting up the virtual court is to provide immediate access to justice and facilitate litigants in remote areas in this modern digital era.

Justice Yahya Afridi said that the bench and the bar are two fundamental pillars of the judicial system and must promote mutual respect and coordination.

Stressing the importance of mutual respect and coordination between the bench and the bar, the chief justice reiterated that both play a critical role in the delivery of justice.

He said that the judiciary, along with all relevant stakeholders, is committed to ensuring justice and facilities for litigants through transparent means and the use of modern technology.

Justice Yahya Afridi said that the purpose of judicial reforms and development projects is to enhance the performance of the judiciary.

He also appreciated the performance of judicial officers serving in remote areas like Upper Chitral, stating that they are rendering dedicated services in these regions.

Justice Yahya Afridi commended the performance of the district judiciary of Upper Chitral for maintaining public trust and delivering justice effectively.

He stated that both the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court are fully focused on establishing the rule of law, ensuring access to justice for all, and bringing about judicial reforms and infrastructural improvements.

The CJP emphasized that the judiciary’s primary focus is to ensure the provision of inexpensive and prompt justice, judicial reforms, and the improvement of infrastructure.

During his visit, the CJP laid the foundation stone for a new Bar Room, Cells, and a Record Room in Upper Chitral for improving judicial infrastructure and service delivery.
