PTI condemns Tarar’s remarks against tribal people
BARA: The local activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bara chapter, on Saturday condemned the controversial remarks made by Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar regarding the tribal people.
Speaking at a press conference here, the PTI office-bearers, including Khan Alam Afridi, Jehanzeb Afridi, Saeedullah Afridi and others, said that Atta Tarar’s statement was an insult to the tribal people and a blatant attack on their decades-long sacrifices for Pakistan.
They said that the tribal people had always rendered matchless sacrifices for the defence, peace and stability of the country.
“The tribal people, who had been protecting the country’s borders for seventy years without any salary, who suffered the most in the war against terrorism - and today, calling such patriotic people suspicious is deeply regrettable and condemnable,” Jehanzeb Afridi said.
He demanded that the federal minister immediately withdraw his remarks and seek apology from the tribal people, otherwise, they would launch a strong protest movement.
“We stand firmly behind their nominated candidate, Sohail Afridi, and ready to render any sacrifice for the rights of people and democracy,” he said.
On the occasion, president PTI Bara chapter Khan Alam Afridi said that Imran Khan’s decision to nominate Sohail Afridi was a prudent step towards restoration of lasting peace in the region.
He added that the decision was not just a political move but a reflection of the hearts and sentiments of the tribal people.
“By nominating Sohail Afridi, Imran Khan has healed the wounds of the tribesmen and truly won their hearts,” said another leader Saeedullah Afridi. He reaffirmed their resolve that PTI and the tribal people would not allow anyone to question Sohail Afridi’s patriotism or sacrifices.
He said, “If anyone dares to insult the honour of the tribal people, they will be given a strong response both politically and publicly.”
