Alleged medical negligence: Court issues notice to hospital director, doctors
KARACHI: In a significant legal development, the Civil Court of Gambat district, Khairpur, Sindh, has issued notices to the director of a medical institute and several senior doctors in a high-profile alleged medical negligence case filed by Prof Sajid Soomro.
Prof Soomro, through his counsel, has sought Rs 200 million in damages for what he described as the “ruin of his youth and life” due to alleged malpractice and negligence.
According to court documents, notices have been issued to the director of the medical institution and several senior doctors. The case pertains to an alleged wrongful diagnosis, faulty surgery, and radiation treatment that, according to the complainant, caused severe physical and psychological suffering.
Advocate Sarfraz Akhund, Professor Soomro’s counsel, confirmed that the court has formally admitted the case for hearing and summoned the respondents to appear and submit their replies.
