Israeli bombardment of Gaza: Mian Iftikhar slams US, UN for inaction
NOWSHERA: Condemning the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza and the large-scale killing of civilians, Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Friday blamed the United States and the United Nations for failing to prevent bloodshed.
Speaking to the media at the oath-taking ceremony of party’s office-bearers in Ganderi here, Mian Iftikhar said that despite dozens of resolutions presented to stop Israeli airstrikes, the US repeatedly exercised its veto power, reducing international responses to “mere verbal protests,” “Innocent children, women, and the elderly are being killed in Gaza,” he added.
He accused Israel of attempting to occupy Palestinian land and control the Suez Canal’s water resources through its aggression.“Those who love humanity cannot remain silent,” he said and vowed that ANP would stand with nations threatened by Israel and raise its voice against Israeli and American policies at every forum.
Mian Iftikhar criticized the double standards of global powers, noting that when Israel comes under minor attack, the US quickly demands a ceasefire, but remains silent when Israel bombs defenseless Palestinians. “America’s wrong policies have turned Gaza into a bloodbath,” he said. The ANP leader alleged that terrorist groups have long operated in and around Nowshera on strong organizational bases, yet the government has failed to dismantle them.
