Students in Upper Chitral protest transfer of principal
CHITRAL: Hundreds of students of the Government Degree College Upper Chitral staged a protest on Thursday against the sudden transfer of the college principal and assistant professor.
The protesting students alleged that the transfers of Muhammad Karim Khan and Assistant Professor Rahmat Hasel were carried out abruptly on the complaint of a class-IV employee affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Calling the move unjustified, the angry students marched in the form of a rally and blocked the Chitral-Gilgit Road for nearly five hours. The blockade caused severe traffic jams, leaving dozens of vehicles and passengers stranded on both sides of the road. During the demonstration, the students also raised slogans against the Member Provincial Assembly from Upper Chitral, Deputy Speaker Surayya Bibi, holding her responsible for the development.
