Another 26 test positive for dengue from Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi: As many as 26 individuals have tested positive for dengue fever from Rawalpindi district in the last 48 hours taking the total number of dengue fever patients so far confirmed positive from the district to 185.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Friday has revealed that of the total 185 confirmed dengue fever patients reported this year, 107 re residents of Rawalpindi while 78 are from Murree.
To date, no death has been reported due to dengue fever in the region though on Friday, as many as 56 dengue fever patients including 32 confirmed patients were undergoing treatment at different healthcare facilities in the district.
Health experts say that the situation regarding spread of dengue fever is still under control though the continuous increase in the number of confirmed dengue fever patients hints towards a possible outbreak of the infection in the coming days particularly if the individuals do not take preventive and control measures religiously at the time.
Also, according to In-charge District Disease Surveillance and Response Unit Dr. Waqar Ahmed, continued vigilance and active community participation is of paramount importance in successfully controlling the spread of the disease.
He has repeatedly said that the health department’s teams are actively engaged in mosquito surveillance and the district has maintained robust vector surveillance efforts since January 1, 2025.
The data provided by Dr. Waqar on Friday has revealed that a total of 1290 teams meticulously checked 4451053 houses in Rawalpindi so far this year of which 94513 houses were found positive for dengue larvae. Moreover, the teams inspected 1183766 spots and found 14366 spots positive and a cumulative total of 108879 larvae were detected from the positive houses and spots. All identified larval sites have been effectively eliminated using proper standard operating procedures.
