Mardan residents demand drainage of rainwater
MARDAN: Recent rains wreaked havoc in Mardan city and surrounding areas, leaving several localities under water and prompting residents to appeal to the government to direct the Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) to drain the water.
The inhabitants of Mustafaabad, Mardan Khas, Bari Cham, Eidgah Road, Dawsaro Road, Charsadda Road, Par Hoti and Sham Ganj suffered badly when floodwater entered their houses and streets.
The affected people alleged that WSSCM personnel failed to drain the water, while water pumps meant for Mardan were transported to Swat, causing distress among city residents.During a recent incident in Jalala, a roof collapsed, killing one person and critically injuring a father and son.Likewise, rainwater accumulated in houses at Chikaro Pul Hoti and other locations, leading to the collapse of boundary walls.
