BARA: Tribal elders here on Sunday asked the inspector general of police (IGP) to take notice of the behaviour of the Bara police towards the members of the Shalobar tribe.

“We ask of the inspector general police to take action against the Bara Circle DSP Swalzar Khan and Station House Officer (SHO) Bara Police Station to restore the confidence of the residents of the area,” Shalobar Qaumi Council Chairman Lal Nabi Afridi said while speaking at a gathering.

The elders of the Shalobar tribe and the chairman and other office-bearers of the local council were talking to the media after a meeting. The local elders of the Shalobar tribe, office-bearers of Shalobar Qaumi Council, youth and others belonging to the same tribe were present.

Talking to the media after the meeting, the chairman of the Shalobar Qaumi Council Lal Nabi Afridi, Sadeeq Chirag Afridi, Asghar Afridi, Zahidullah Afridi and the Shalobar elders said that the MNAs and MPAs should stand with the tribe and take practical steps to solve problems immediately and prevent police brutality.

They expressed serious concern over the behaviour of the Bara police towards the Shalobar tribe and said that the local police authorities were continuously discriminating against the Shalobar tribe. They maintained that instead of arresting the suspects accused of theft, an attempt was made to defame the entire tribe.

“We ask the IGP that the Bara Circle DSP Swalzar Khan and SHO Bara Police Station should be closed to the police lines,” Lal Nabi Afridi said.He made it clear that if the police authorities did not take serious steps forthwith, the Shalobar tribe would stage protests.
