Minister visits flood-hit areas in Charsadda
CHARSADDA: Provincial Minister for Irrigation Aqibullah Khan on Saturday visited various flood-affected areas in Charsadda district, including Munda Headworks and Bela No. 4.
He was accompanied by Secretary Irrigation Ayaz Khan and Members of the Provincial Assembly Arif Ahmadzai, Arshad Umarzai, and Khalid Khan.
During the visit, Charsadda Deputy Commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir gave a detailed briefing to the minister and the irrigation secretary. The briefing covered the pre-emptive safety measures taken by the district administration, the flood situation, and the rescue operation that successfully evacuated 15 stranded individuals during the flood.
The minister directed the deputy commissioner to initiate an immediate assessment of the damages caused by the flood. He reiterated the government’s commitment to provide all possible assistance to the flood-affected people, ensure timely deployment of emergency teams in any future crisis, implement comprehensive safety measures, and introduce development projects for the Charsadda Irrigation sector.
Aqibullah Khan said that the flood flow in the Swat River was under constant monitoring, and advance protective steps had been taken in anticipation. He said due to the district administration’s thorough preparations, Charsadda did not suffer any loss of life or property.
He appealed to the people of Charsadda to remain vigilant, as the current spell of rainfall is expected to continue until August 21.
